Founder
Jadala
Turi Munthe founded Jadala in 2019 with J. Paul Neeley to create tools for civil discourse. They created Parlia, an opinion and personal discovery platform, and the Encyclopedia of Opinion aiming to create a definitive digital map of the world's beliefs and arguments. They also created the “Opinion DNA” a tool for self-understand related to opinion development. The platforms are designed to foster civil discourse and reduce polarization by cataloging conflicting viewpoints on various topics rather than focusing solely on objective facts.
Demotix
Turi founded Demotix in 2008, a journalism platform designed as a grassroots global newswire, hoping to democratise the way news was gathered and told. Quickly, it became the largest network of photojournalists in the world empowering freelance photographers and activists in volatile or hard-to-reach locations to license their images to major global news outlets. The platform became a significant source for breaking news imagery and exited to the media licensing giant Corbis in 2012.
